poco f1 review
hey guys Hershiser and welcome back to technolog in this ever evolving world with super expensive smartphones like the iPhone Tennis pixel 3 Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and all these phones Xiaomi went I had a launched a very new company this new company is called poco and they are very first phone that is the poco f1 got a lot of attention all around the globe because of its price to performance ratio I have been using the poco f1 as my daily driver for over a month now and today in this video
I'll tell you exactly what you need to know about this phone and whether or not you should buy this phone to use as your daily driver now I hate the term daily rival but yeah that's what we're calling it so moving apart from that let's get right into my review [Music] so the boku f1 is the cheapest phone on the market right now with a snapdragon 845 processor along with that you get six or eight GB of
RAM coupled with 64 128 or 256 GB of internal storage you also get the option of expanding the storage by a micro SD card slot it's a hybrid SIM card solution that means you can use two SIM cards or you can use one SIM card and one micro SD card as we already know Snapdragon 845 is the top of the line processor by Qualcomm for this year and it works incredibly well on the poco f1 the
performance is outstanding so if you are coming from a budget phone like the redmi note 5 pro or maybe even the redmi note 4 then this phone will be a huge upgrade for you because the performance is a huge bump like the rebbe note series uses the snapdragon 600 series processor and this is an 800 series processor which is a flagship processor and the performance is incredible now coupled with the Snapdragon 845 you get me UI on the software side of things so me UI is a very heavy skin over
Android so if you're a stock Android lower out there then this phone isn't for you because me why is a very heavy skin it offers tons and tons of customizations it also has a lot of bloatware and sometimes it also has ads yes I have been getting ads on my poker f1 regularly which is very annoying so if someone from Xiaomi is watching this then please stop this like it's a very cheap move to show ads in your settings menu please please don't do that and I absolutely hate that thing like you're showing ads on a phone that I paid for so yeah that's an issue and hopefully Xiaomi will solve it soon but other than that me UI on this phone is actually very well optimized it does come with an app proud unlike other media phones which is a good thing because that was the only thing missing
on me why and now you have that option which is a very good thing so the performance with me you attend and snapdragon 845 works really well for me at first the software had a lot of bugs but it's common for a new phone to have bugs and as time went by software updates came along and the performance got better and better so overall the performance on this phone is incredibly well for the price of rupees 21,000 or $300 it's probably the best phone out there in its price segment in terms of
the performance now one more thing that is great on this phone is battery life so the pokhara phone comes with a massive four thousand milliamp hour battery which will easily last you for two days I was getting somewhere around one and a half days on a constant basis because I'm a heavy user but if you are a light user then two days is very easy on this phone I was constantly getting somewhere around six to seven hours of screen on time which is crazy and I really like the battery life on this
phone also one good thing is that you get quick charge 3.0 support and you also get the adapter inside the box unlike some other companies at will now let's go ahead and talk about a controversial aspect with the poco f1 and that is the display so the poco f1 comes with a six point one eight inch display with the resolution of Full HD plus it does have a notch and that noise is humongous because it houses a lot of features inside the notch so for example you get the front camera and you also get an IR camera that means you can use the face unlock feature in the night as well that's where that notch is humongous some people like the nod some people don't like the notch but I personally didn't care
about the notch after a couple of days like for the first couple of days I was like what is this it's bugging me but then I got used to it very quickly so that's my experience with the notch but if you're a person who does not like the notch then you're not gonna like this phone because it's a very big not now apart from that the base play had also some other controversies like screen bleeding issues well yes the poco f1 does have screen bleeding issues but it's not that massive like it's not even noticeable if you go and look for that issue then only you will find that issue but other than that the display is
actually very good it's color accurate the resolution is awesome it's bright enough so that you can use it in outdoors like in daylight conditions and overall the display feels really well like it's not a cheap display on the poco f1 like when I first ordered this product then I thought that yeah Xiaomi might have put a cheap display on this one but it's not that case it's a very good display so as far as the controversies about the display go I think that people are nitpicking over here we have to consider the price to performance ratio and for this price point the display is actually very good now also one
thing that I have to mention about the display is that cannot stream HD videos for Netflix and Amazon Prime video it has a full HD Plus display but it cannot stream because of some issues so if you watch a lot of content on Netflix and Amazon Prime then you should probably skip this phone because it cannot stream HD videos on those platforms it can't stream full HD videos on YouTube so that's a good thing so you can watch my videos in Full HD and while you're at it you can also hit the subscribe button below it's a red button so please hit that it would mean the world to me hashtag
shameless plug okay anyway moving on let's talk about the cameras on the poco f1 so when you buy a smartphone in the budget segment then you often expect that the camera won't be great but the poco f1 isn't like that the camera on the poco f1 is incredibly well you might have seen my build this review where he said that the camera is okay SH the dynamic range is there but yeah it's bookish I cannot agree with that the dynamic range on this phone is incredible you can see in the sample images for yourself that the poco f1 produces some really good results in terms of day lighting
conditions and also in terms of low lighting conditions make I don't know how imperiously said that the camera is bad maybe he's not considering the price to performance ratio and saying this again and again but for this price point this is probably the best camera phone out there and trust me on that because you can see the sample images for yourself and this phone performs really well in terms of the cameras although the front camera on this phone is exceptionally well with that front portrait
mode it has a lot of detail in it and it clicks some really good selfies we've seen the front camera in the redmi note 5 pro and also in the me a 2 and everyone loves this front camera from xiaomi so well done on that now some people out there might ask what about the poco f1 versus the one plastics in terms of the cameras well I have made an entire video about that if you want to watch it it will be linked in the I button over here and also in the description box below so you can go out and watch that video for yourself and you will get to know all about boku f1 what is one plus six okay now let's
move on to an aspect that I don't like about this phone and that is the build quality so this one comes with a plastic family Xiaomi tells that it's a polycarbonate back panel it's just a nicer way of saying that yeah it has a plastic back panel it's not premium at all and yes that's the case it's not premium at all it doesn't have that premium flagship feeling like when you hold a one plus six or maybe like the
Samsung Galaxy S nine or the iPhone 10 then you feel like yeah this is a substantial phone it's a premium phone with premium materials it looks good and you get that feeling but you don't get that feeling with the poco f1 poco f1 feels like a very basic phone and it feels like a budget phone so if you are looking for that premium feeling in a smartphone then this is in the smart phone for you you should probably buy the oneplus X because it has much better build quality much better design and it feels like a premium flagship also with a plastic back panel it makes the phone a lot heavier and thicker as well so when you first hold this phone in your hand your first reaction is going to be that
man this is heavy like this phone feels really heavy in the hand like I've got used to it because I've been using it for more than a month but as far as first impressions went this phone felt really heavy so please do make a note of that now some good things about the poco f1 are that it still retains the headphone jack and the output from the headphone jack is incredible so if you like to listen to music with the headphone jack like if you still have headphones with the headphone jack then you are in luck here because the headphone jack on this phone is really good and as I mentioned the output from the headphone jack is also really really good although Xiaomi claims that this phone has dual
speakers that is stereo speakers but I think that feature is a gimmick it does have two speakers like one from the Yerkes and one at the bottom it's that a normal speaker it produces better volume than the 1 plus 6 and some other phones out there but it's still not the best out there like for this price point it's really well but Xiaomi advertised it as stereo speakers with you know great output I don't think
that is the case with the speakers so again make a note of that there the Pogo iPhone also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone it works really well it is fast it is secure and it's in the perfect position therefore overall the poco f1 is a really interesting package for the price of a pitch 21,000 if you're in the market to buy a new phone in this price segment that I don't think that there is any competition to this phone when it comes with the performance the camera the battery life and also the display it's only biggest con is the build quality like if you want that premium flagship feeling then you're not going to get that with the poco f1 but other than that if you don't care about
